In NSW you must file for a notice of disposal to the transport for NSW if you sell your or transfer the ownership of your car. This is an official notification to the concerned authorities that you are no longer the legal owner of the vehicle.
After this notice is submitted, going forward any responsibility of the car, any fines, toll charges or registration fees will be transferred to the new owner. This document is important to protect you from any potential financial or legal issues related to the car after you have sold it.

You can do it online or offline according to your convenience. Here are the steps you need to follow to submit a Notice of Disposal NSW.
Step 1– A Notice of Disposal may be filed offline in NSW by mailing the completed formor at Service NSW centre. Download or print the notice of disposal form.
Step 2 – The form must be signed by the seller and the buyer.
Step 3 – To submit the completed form, either mail it to “Transport for NSW, PO Box 21 Parkes 2870” or in person at Service NSW Centre.
(Note: Companies and organisations must post it to “PO Box 21 Parkes NSW 2870”.)
Step 1 – Check the eligibility criteria on the Service NSW official site.
Step 2 – Select the “submit online” option.
Step 3 – Choose the following option.

Step 4 – Enter your car’s licence plate number and complete the other required information.
